India Pedals is presently Nagpur – based Citizen’s Group to promote Cycling as a “Way of Life” and we wish to create similar campaigns across different cities of India. India Pedals is promoted by ProHEALTH Foundation and Miles N Milers Endurance Sports Academy. Our aim is simple: Make Nagpur a Cycling City in the next 10 years.

In the Covid Era, Cycling has emerged as an important tool to create social distancing, build health and at the same time protect the environment. World Health Organization has recommended the promotion of cycling as an important way to keep people active, boost immunity and at the same time reduce the transmission of Corona pandemic.

In order for anyone to be physically fit one needs to be engaged in some form of physical activity at least 4 days a week (this of course depending on what kind of fitness one is aiming at).

Cycling is one such form of physical activity that can be undertaken by people of all ages. Being a low-impact exercise which means it is easy on the joints, cycling is a complete exercise.

Why can Nagpur become a Cycling City?

  1. Nagpur is a designated Smart City under the Smart City Project of Government of India.
  2. Already 700 km of cycling tracks have been designed under the Smart city project for Nagpur City.
  3. Nagpur is a mid-sized city and average commuting distance is in between 3 to 5 km
  4. Nagpur Terrain is flat so it is easy to cycle across different parts of the city and Nagpur has very good road infrastructure which will help in improving safety and creating space for the Cyclist.
